To enter this mythical place is to enter the legend of Montparnasse. Much more than a splendid restaurant steeped in history, La Coupole is also the haunt of very popular evenings in the capital: the “Slam Sessions”.
La Coupole, c?est d?abord un décor, une ambiance, une histoire. Lorsqu?on entre, on est tout de suite frappé par le style art déco qui n?a pas bougé d?un iota. En regardant attentivement, on peut voir des fresques sur les colonnes et même un carrelage très « cubiste ». Notons que près de trente-deux artistes de Montparnasse ? dont Fernand Léger ? ont participé à la magie de son intérieur.
La Coupole is above all a decor, an atmosphere, a story. When you enter, you are immediately struck by the art deco style which has not changed a bit. If you look closely, you can see frescoes on the columns and even very “cubist” tiling. It should be noted that nearly thirty-two artists from Montparnasse – including Fernand Léger – have participated in the magic of its interior.
Famous guests
We can also see the panel of the fresco installed in February 2002 and produced more than 50 years ago by artists from Montparnasse – the Echelle group – for the 2000th anniversary of Paris. Composed at the time of six panels over more than 30 meters, this fresco was taken down in the sixties, then found by chance at an auction 30 years later. The return home of one of the panels was joyfully celebrated because it is part of the heritage of this restaurant which is constantly getting a makeover!
Programmation
In the dance hall, no one escapes the call of the party, judge for yourself:
- On Friday: “Cheers” evening, with Sven Love and Greg Gauthier on the turntables for a quality House Garage evening attracting the most demanding clubbers. From 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., entrance: 16 euros with a drink.
- On Saturday: “Disco” evening. From 10:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., admission: 16 euros with a drink.
- The first Monday of the month: “Slam Sessions”, with Pilot le Hot. From 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., free participation of the public, information: 01 42 06 92 08.
- On Tuesday: The famous “Salsa Tuesdays”, and its live musicians. From 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., admission: 22.50 euros, with 1 hour of introductory Salsa lessons. From 10:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., entry: 16 euros with a drink.
- On Wednesday: “HiFi” evening, with the program Electro Soul, House and various music. From 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., entrance: 8 euros without drink.
- Thursday: “House” evening. From 10:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., admission: 16 euros with a drink.
